285: way too many meringues and pictures of me

Hey.

I am sitting on the couch eating meringue cookies, pure sugar puffs. There are  crumbs tumbling onto my huge black sweatshirt. I'm freshly showered and all cozy in my pink sweatpants.  Ready to hang out. Wanna hang out?

So, it's the middle of December. Holiday time.

The tree went up last night:

And the cats wanted to take it right down.

They lurked and lunged.

At one point, they were both reaching up the base of the tree and then Cat Wrestling ensued. Cats are so silly.

We have a tree up at Yummy Goods (the shop), too. I want a pink tree for next year. (Or white. No, pink. Maybe both.) And next year it will have  a bunch of handmade ornaments on it. That's the plan, anyways.

Last Sunday there was this wacky snowfall- the snowflakes were falling in giant fluffy clusters. The pictures don't do it justice, but I want to show you anyways:

I've never seen snow like that. Like millions of little cotton balls falling from the sky.

I was at the shop and had to run outside with the camera. Everyone who walked by me got an earful of "Oh, my God! Can you believe it? Have you ever seen snow like this!?? Isn't it so pretty? Isn't it magical??"

Back in the shop it was feeling cozy and festive as we readied for the Open House, which was Friday.

I was so suprised at how well the Open House was attended! Seriously, I expected, like, five people to show up! But it was packed for two hours straight, which was awesome.

I'm starting to really feel the community supporting our little shop. People are spreading the word for us and bringing in friends. It's heartwarming.

.................................................................................

I ate too many meringues.

.................................................................................

I have a whole studio 'before and after' post in the works, but I do want to show a little bit tonight.

To go along with the magazine feature, I needed to send a shot of me in the space.  Luckily, Madelyn visited the day I was shooting, so I handed her the camera.

I was feeling kind of weird and off that day, so getting a good picture of me was tough!

Me being awkward and silly:

(Since I know you are going to ask, those Sugar Snap dresses hanging in the window were made by my friend Katie for her girls. Yes, I will probably carry something like them in the shop this summer.)

I actually love this one and considered using it for the magazine:

I like this one, too:

Thanks, Maddie:

..............................................................................

In other news, all I want to do lately is take hot showers and watch House reruns.

What are you up to?

xo, m

Great pictures Melissa! No one would ever want to shoot pix of my studio, WAY too messy!
What am I up too? Finishing up writing directions to two quilts I made for some of Free Spirit's lines coming out. Two overdue Christmas exchange projects, closing on a real estate deal, the "real" job in "retail", oh and trying to spend time doing the family holiday stuff....
As well as trying to stay warm...Winter has hit the Pacific NW,and we natives don't much care for it.
Are you sorry you asked? :) :)

I like your stripey socks.

I don't want to do anything but eat sugar cookies and read magazines. I haven't updated my blog in almost a month! It's that time of the year when the days are short, but they seem to drag on.

I think there was a House marathon on USA last night. I was watching while I was doing some hand sewing. Love the fun pics of you! I think you should have sent the fierce one. LOL!

I love the one of your feet! I wish I could come visit your shop, it reminds me of one I love in my own little town, only much more cozy and fun.

What am I up to? Thanks for asking! Tomorrow, I will take my final final finally (hehe), and then head home to Pittsburgh--which will take a long time because my flight stops in Philadelphia on the way from Minnesota...go west to go east? My computer has been broken since Monday night, and while at first it was kinda nice to be free, now I really miss it and I feel bored a lot. Which is kinda sad. Also, I miss a lot of my friends, since many of them I keep up with online. I only get a few moments here and there in the library or on the ancient computer in my dorm-house.

But in 24 hours, I shall be home for Christmas!

Today I'm making peanut brittle and English Toffee. Have to walk the dog first and make a quick dash to the store, but afterwards I'm in the house all day. Rainy and cold out...brrrrrr.

Love your shop, your studio, and your stuff!

Hey girl.

I love the new studio space. I can't wait to come and hang out. I've no idea when I'll be on the cape, but I'm sure I can find some excuse.

Wish I was at the open house...

You're just the cutest ever! I love the publicity shots! You have the cutest cowlick in the front of your hair, I LOVE it!!! You are the perfect pixie!
Striped socks rock love!
That snow does look whacky and yet still wonderful. I'm so with you on eating too many sweets, I've been awfully naughty with that lately.
