135: the weirdest thing I own

Ok.

I got something last summer that I have been dying to show you.

But I have hesitated because it is very weird.

But I love it.

But it is freaky.

You have been warned.

Ok.

Here goes.

Not so weird you say?
How about this view then?

 Pretty dang freaky, right?

I mean, what the heck is this thing?

Where is it from?

I mean, I got it for three bucks at this wild outdoor junk shop, but where did it come from?

If this strange head vase thing is still not striking you as all that bizarre, then I have news for you:

Yes. That's right. On the other side it has double eyes.

Here is the only identifying information I could find on it:

So, what is the weirdest thing you own?
Wanna take pictures of it and post it on your blog?
I want to see.

You know what's strange? My uncle has a little guy with 4 eyes above his work bench in the garage..it's a bottle opener and it's super old. What possessed them to create functional art with 4 eyes?

Youch -- the backside hurts my eyeballs. I'd pay somebody to take that thing away!

Holy smokes! That IS weird. I kept squinting at that double eye photo to see if my own eyes were blurring. Goodness. The weirdest thing I own... hum... I'll have to think on it and see if I can get a photo on my blog. ~jen~

Okay. That is the weirdest vase I have ever seen. It totally cracked me up and the comments are priceless. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to look in the cellar and see what I come up with. I doubt that we have anything that comes close.

More than freaky, a little disturbing even. I had a menacing carved wooden lizard that I loved (still don't know why) but my husband made me sell it on eBay. Maybe I still have a picture somewhere.

Do you sleep with that thing in the house?

My mom gave my husband a monkey skull adorned with silver and turquoise while we were visiting them in Thailand. We were freaked out and afraid to travel with it so we left it there.

Man, that is weird...who would have made something like that! Your photo of the backside is priceless though -- it's quite disorientating at first!

That is undeniably the most ultimate white elephant gift of all time. At first I thought, oooo creepy, then I saw the other side and it elevates it from plain creepy to a little awe inspiring. Wow.

That is so weird. I will have to find the weirdest thing I own, but I think you will certainly be taking home first prize with that thing.

Wow...seriously...who on earth do you think the intended market was?! But, I got to say you really need to have a dinner party with that as the centerpiece...definitely memorable! I also loved the suspense of scrolling down to each picture - didn't see the double eyes coming!

CRAP! I don't think I own anything THAT weird... and I have a lot of weird stuff around here. eeeek! At first I though that back side shot was some sort of Photoshop trick or something. double-eeeeek!

tee hee! I told you it was weird!!

My honey was like, "do NOT bring that thing home." But of course, I had to.

I did find out a little bit more about this thing, I'll have to update my post to include the info!

Your comments are priceless!

I'm sure you've already found out by now it's by Alexander Backer/ABCO NY - although I couldn't find any information on him/them in general, I did come across this beaut:
