231: the seam of sea and sky

The other day, my honey said to me, "After work, I'm taking you somewhere and you need to bring your camera."

Oooh! A surprise photo location? Cool!

He said, " I'll give you one word: RUST."

At five, we headed home (we work together), grabbed the camera, hopped in the Little Car and headed out. Ten minutes later, we arrived at our destination, Dowses Beach in Osterville.

From the parking lot, we took this sandy lane through the Cape Cod roses (rosa rugosa) to get to the beach:

Camera in hand, I followed him to the  jetty. We climbed onto the rocks and carefully made our way to the end, the Atlantic Ocean splashing up against our raised path. I looked out and saw nothing but a  seam of sea meeting sky.

But that's not what I was there for.

ooooooh. What is that?

Only the most amazing bubbly rust that I have ever seen.

Ok, so I pretty much got every surface.

But can you blame me?

Ready to leave, I looked down with the camera and he got all  cute and shy with his feet, the sillyhead!

great lumpy bits of rust.....and to have a mate who actually takes you out to see the rust....THAT is a true blessing!!
That's so cute! Great rust. I'm noticing a feet pattern here. Also everyone has that long toe, some longer than others. I'm proposing a wall in your house pick one and have pictures of all the feet you have taken on it. I think it would look awesome plus I want to see mine again. Thanks for another great post! Beth

It would be so nice to live ten minutes from the ocean. have not seen rust get all bubbly like that. I wonder why it did that?

i envy your time on the cape and rust is really beautiful, especially in your photos. i love that your honey thought to take you someplace that you would like to photograph. he's a perfect scout!

ooooh, those are fabulous photos. My kids think I am SOOOOO weird because I love (and collect) rusty stuff. Guess I've found a kindred spirit. Thanks!

That is so romantic! How cool that he just knew how much you'd love that rusty tentacle thingie? Some folks require diamonds and the like, but they are no fun!!!

I've been away and I'm having a blast sifting through all that I missed.
