294: Guess What? Chicken Butt.

hi sweet people,

Blogland was kind to me this week: Sugar Snap was featured on Sew Mama Sew and my studio redo was featured on Whip Up. Thanks, yo!

Welcome to any new Yummy Goods readers! I hope you'll sit down and stay a while. And don't be shy, please do say hello, ok?

Just so you know, I'm really messy and I swear occasionally and I'm always cold. But I hope my good qualities outweigh the bad. I'm pretty good at spelling, after all.

Ok, back to business.

How about some recent thrift finds? Yes? Oh, ok. Good.

Awesome coloring, right?

Ooooh, he might just have to go on the bird shelf. (If you like room redo's, you'll want to check out that link.)

At first, I mistook this for just a figurine. Then I realized there was a little plug on the underside, so I looked for the holes to confirm that it was a salt (or pepper) shaker.

Hmmm. I looked on top and didn't see any. That's odd...

Tee hee, here they are:

The salt (or pepper) comes out of its butt! Honey, can you pass the chicken butt, please? (Tee hee, I just said butt.)

..............................................................

Oh, hey. Back by popular demand, my crazy-long undulating link list. Kiss a few hours goodbye.

And I added a search window, it's at the bottom of the sidebar.

..............................................................

How about this little cutie?

It's only a couple inches tall. I love it.

>sigh<

This makes me want spring. Actually, since I'm such a coldie, even spring is too cold. I want July.

You know what I say to myself all winter? Someday it will be summer. It's like a mantra. I'll be walking with a friend, all bundled up against the freezing air and I will say to them, "You know, someday it will be summer. Someday we will be walking out here in tanks tops and we will be hot."

 .........................................................................

As you know, I'm trying to break out of my music rut, so I loaded up my ipod with a bunch of music I haven't listened to in a while:

Keren Ann

The Killers

Vampire Weekend

Ingrid Michaelson

She and Him (recommended by someone many months ago when I asked for suggestions!)

Belle and Sebastian

What are you listening to?

................................................................

Another thrift find:

Isn't it pretty? I think it's Japanese. A delicate little handpainted teacup. Are those herons or egrets? Or something else? (Dad?)

Yeah, I could use a manicure.

........................................................

Favorite snacks this week:

Trader Joe's Moral Fiber Blueberry Bran Muffins- oh my god, yum. So moist and delicious.

Mini Rye Toast Crackers with Castello (a soft blue cheese) and honey.

This isn't really a snack, but I am chowing down on Atomic Fireballs. I love them.

.................................................................

The other day, Stuart and I were leaving the house and he said, "Look up."

Oh, the cuteness.

xo, m

I am having heart palpitations over that chicken salt shaker. I love artistic chickens! I love crude humor! Wooooo! That's got to be the best salt shaker EVER.

Hi M, it was really great to meet you today in your store with Beth! Absolutely love it.

Ooo. Love Keren Ann & Vampire Weekend! AND Belle and Sebastian! Not to be all obnoxious and plugy but Sean (my DH) is a DJ at WOMR in Ptown and has an indie rock show that might be right up your alley (sorry!). Let's see... in my car right now is The Like, The Spinto Band, The Airborne Toxic Event & Sondre Lerche.

okay, since i first discovered your blog a few months back, i have suspected we might be related. after this post, i KNOW it.

a couple of clues...

my kitchen floor which i did on the cheap because i cannot afford a full remodel right now is EXACTLY the same as yours. exactly.

i have a full bin of atomic fireballs purchased at sam's club sitting right here in my kitchen. love em.

i'm sure there are other clues, but just so you know, you are the cooler cousin :)

oh I just LOVE your studio...ESPECIALLY the "organized by color" shelves! so brilliant...gives me hope that ONE OF THESE DAYS when I get my space in order...all this STUFF will indeed have a home that still looks PRETTY! (I want to go get my IKEA shelves from the basement and stick one in my dining room right now...since that is where I end up crafting anyway!! hmmm...do you think hubby will notice if I wait to do it while the football game is on? double dutch dare me?)

thanks for your YUMMY GOODNESS shares!

dear ms. yummygoods:

you are wonderful. i am so glad to have stumbled onto your blog through the mysteries of twitter. it is a beacon of loveliness in the fog of this cape cod winter. i can't wait to come see your shop!

if you have not heard Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago", i beg you to give it a listen. brilliant, beautiful, heartwrenching, and the most perfect accompaniment to a grey day.

please have a happy week. :-)

Regarding the Teacup: Egrets are a type of Heron, so if you say it's a Heron, then you'd be right even if it's an Egret. Putting that aside, those birds much resemble Snowy Egrets http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowy_Egret
