295: don't go break-in my heart

Friends, I am sad.

My shop/studio got broken into last night. It's weird, they got the back door halfway open but left without coming in. There was a cabinet in front of the door and stuff fell off of it, which may have scared them away.

Luckily, no one was hurt. Nothing was taken or messed up. (Well, except some trust and my mind, of course!) My studio is like my home- so this feels very personal.

But I am ok, not too freaked. Unsettled would be a better word.

And sad.

In addition to the House rerun I am watching right now, to focus on something positive, I am going to write out and link all the music suggestions I've gotten.

I'll include even the stuff I already knew about, in case you don't know them. I haven't checked them all out yet- I just want them all in one place so I can find them easily.

Oh no! I'm so sorry for the mess and chaos something like this creates. When I had a store, we had a similar break-in. They broke the front glass door, and took off with a little bit of cash (no merchandise ... hard to sell lamps and accessories on the black market?). The part that got us laughing was the trail of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters from the wrap desk out to the sidewalk!

Hope your cleanup is quick and easy!

I hate to hear that your adorable little store was broken into. That's such a terrible feeling and it never really goes away. I'm glad at least none of your merchandise was damaged. I hope a little peace of mind returns soon.

mercury must be in retrograde or something wacky!! our car was broken into this weekend, taken on a joy ride and returned with the back smashed...oh well, at least they returned it. it's odd when an unexpected entity enters 'your' space. what is the universe telling us?
glad all is well in the bigger picture, guess bells over the doors is a good idea!

Came for a visit from whipup last week and I can't seem to get enough. I will be back. Often.
Lovely things are happening here. Well, not the break-in. Your stuff. Your stuff is lovely.

Keep on with the breathe thing...it is a good thing to do when the stress strikes.....I am so sorry for the violation of the break-in! When I was a kid someone broke into our home when I was home with my sister. Scarey stuff!!! I am so glad such little damage was done. My prayers are with you!
I put a note on my blog for the few visitors I get to come over and give you a blog-hug, kiddo!

Oh man...I know that feeling you've got and I hate it! I hope you're able to regain some sense of normalcy soon and that it never happens again... Big hugs!

Oh, this is horrible for you! And, no, the feeling won't go away for a long time.
But, and there always is one, nothing taken and no-one harmed - physically, at least.
Hope all is now even more secure, and Big Hugs to you.

That is unnerving. When stuff like this happens, it makes you question the security of everything. Our neighbors woke up to find their truck on cinderblocks...tires and rims gone. We live in a really nice neighborhood, so we know it must have been some of the construction crew workers who are laying the HD cable lines in our alley. I have been thinking about getting an alarm system for our house b/c of all of my sewing machines, etc. Maybe this would be a good option (piece of mind) for your studio.

Oh, you poor lamb! But they weren't able to get in, and now they know you're on to them, so they won't be back.

Were the police helpful?

You don't have any of my personal favorite musicians on your list, you silly! Neutral Milk Hotel, Rufus Wainwright, Kimya Dawson, the Pixies, and Old Crow Medicine Show rock.

So sorry about the break-almost-in :(. I've had break-ins 4 times in various places I've lived, it feels horrible for a while, but slowly it goes away. I hope you are feeling better by now.
