307: oink

hey, you guys.

spent all day in the studio yesterday.

i'm trying to get back on track with some exciting stuff i have going on. can't wait to share it with you when it's official!

i'm working on a bunch of design-y/illustration type things but yesterday i  mostly just played to loosen up.

That's usually the work i like best- my weird, non-commercial doodley drawings:

just messing around with color and pattern, expressions. always experimenting.

nope, they're not 'pretty', but i love 'em.

oink.

oh, speaking of oink, i have been eating yucky (yummy, but makes-me-feel-yucky) food again and skipping workouts. gearing up to rededicate to the healthy things i do which help me feel strong, peaceful and creative.

yep, i am most creative when i am eating great and getting lots of cardio! i think it's working off the physical stress that allows the ideas to flow. plus the peace i feel when i eat well allows me to do work without judging it- which is essential.

they can't all be gems.

today i'm off to an estate sale followed by a power walk with a friend. then to the studio. if i get any goodies or make any, i'll show you .

xo, m

There's something about that first one... looks a little like Charles II...
I really like your sense of line and color.
Oh, and I kinda liked Charles II also...

I like pig lady. Her eyes are interesting to me and I could stare at that picture for hours.

I don't do any design, but I like to doodle flowers and stuff while I'm waiting for my old computer to warm up, and your faces are giving me some inspiration to do faces of my own! Thanks for being my muse today! :o)

I can not stop staring at curly man's curls! I love that they are uneven.
And the girl's mouth is so totally fetching.

Glad you are creating and thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Tracey

Hello Melissa, Stopped by to see ya in the early morning of this Saturday, My Dad's birthday(mine's tomorrow)to share some randomness from my neck of the woods. Had dinner out at the Basil Garden Restaurant(thai). Thinking right now about having the leftover spring roll and peanut sauce. Bought the Mar/Apr Cloth Paper Scissors and after reading the musings I went straight to the article on extreme visual journalism by juliana coles...have selected my affirmation album as the BOOK to work in and added another smaller art journal that has graffiti pages in it(I made graffiti paper(alisa burke article) as therapy after our dog died in June). On Wednesday went to church and not only did I get a pound of Medjools dates from California(the pits are being washed and kept for me to play with) I got a wrapped BD gift ( I write it like that because what it's wrapped in most likely gets reused some way in my art). My friend gave me these little folk art style figurines, ones a praying angel with rusted wire wings and the other is a little girl I guess with a briaded pony tale and violets behind her back(she has rusted wings too).I've been eating "yucky" foods too -baked lays, carmellos, ferrero rochers(I keep the gold foil and little brown cups they come in to play with).Off to find the pink rust photos that are some where in your Flickr(I NEED to add them to my faves). Happy happies.

Great ladies---very Picasso/Matisse. May actually be a fabric design in these. Love to see where your creative muse takes you.
Hope you are getting a break from the harsh weather and feel that Spring is actually coming. Here in NC Spring is here despite having real snow last week. Moving from New England last year was the best way to retire.

Hi Melissa,

Its been awhile since I last left a note, sorry, I have been living in a fog these past few years! So sorry to hear about your loss. I can't even imagine what you are going threw, hopefully in time things will seem better, and I am glad you have a great man for your support around you. I have rededicated myself this year to get fit for good and yes working out helps allot. I am now on the p90x program and loving it. I love these fun little doodles! Its the thing that keeps you connected to what you really love, without being forced to do it.
I have found that this year I have had to learn all over again how to enjoy my gift and to do what I want rather than what is expected. The licensing business is really bad but it forced me to open up myself to all possibilities! Keep it up and you just never know.

Fun! I think the best art is sometimes created without intent. Just let it happen and be...
