314: off with my head

Bah, I'm having an off day. You ever have those?

Just kind of ... overwhelmed, I guess. Life is good- all great stuff is happening, true.

But today I kind of needed a head-ectomy. Dammit, should have gone to that yoga class I blew off. Oh, well.

Thought I was doing a good thing by going out to browse to make myself feel better. Ended up leaving the store in tears!

I want to punch my hormones in the face.

>sigh<

Even resorted to comfort food, which I haven't been doing much lately. At least I haven't been doing it all the time. I have actually been eating pretty well most of the time. So that's a good thing, right? Right?

I really wanted homemade mac and cheese but I didn't have any handy. So it was grilled cheese. Eaten in bed.

While I'm feeling bad, I might as well get this off my chest: I feel like a jerk because I have about 30 emails that are in the 'respond to' folder and I just haven't. Please forgive me. I do really love the emails I receive, but just know that if you ask questions it will probably take a while for me to get back to you. Quite a while. I am the least organized person I know.

Bah, enough!

Let me show you something:

A painting I started last month. Wicked cheap watercolors on construction paper.

I showed it to my man and this is what he said:

"Princess Leia on a Sad Day. With Man Hands."

He's got a way with words.

..........................................................................

Have you noticed I've been posting more lately?

Do you prefer a big long post every week or more frequent shorter posts?

What are your comfort foods?

xo,

m

Mmmmm, comfort food. Popcorn with a side of sliced sharp cheddar cheese. Or buttered egg noodles. Weird? but comforting :)

Princess Leia...hummm......I imagine that doesn't help you feel better...
I personally like any food as comfort food, but chocolate and anything desserty without raisins would be at the top of the list!
Oh, and I like the little snippet posts interspersed with and occasional big long one...

I'm right there with ya on the homemade mac n' cheese, and I must say I make a damn good one (thanks mom!). Cheese. Pasta. Really... the only other thing on the plate should be cookies n' cream ice cream.

And I love the frequent posting :-) Longs ones are fine too, but I like me some frequent Melissa in any length!

Ice cream. Chocolate ice cream. Sigh...

Kraft mac & cheese, tomato soup, sour cream and onion lays chips, reese's peanut butter cups and diet 7-up with a bendy straw. Has worked since I was 6. Still works at 35. Hope you are feeling better! I swear the cycle of the moon has been harsh this month.

M~I look forward to your posts the way you were looking forward to your homemade mac-n-cheese, you can't always have it, but I am never-endingly thrilled when I can. So the more posting you do (or the more mac-n-cheese you eat) all the better!!! Thanks for being exactly you. Perfect!

Just embrace those sad feelings and ride them out. It's ok to give in to those things that comfort you at times. At least I think so. I give in to chocolate and carbs when I'm feeling down. I don't know if they make me feel better, but they certainly don't make me feel any worse! ;o)

Dessert for lunch.
Don't you hate it when your hormones run away with you? I majorly insulted my best friend the other day, and she has enough stress in her life at the moment without me adding to it. I had to apologise the next day and fortunately she understood.

I like the frequent posts.

I like chocolate and cake and icecream. And I am a bit of a comfort eater (oops!)

Hello Melissa! I'm Daljeet and I've been reading your blog for several months now - although I forget how I found you :)

Wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading your wonderfully colourful blog and how impressed I am by your eye for beauty!. I look forward always to your updates and for that, have tagged you and nominated you for an award here:

Eating grilled cheese in bed sounds like a very reasonable way to cheer oneself up. I like to do that with nut-filled chocolate :)

My go-to comfort food in those times: rice pudding with whipped cream! Yum!

Best All Time Comfort Food is a Pasty from that British Pub on Main Street in Hyannis. I dream of them sometimes!

Comfort food for me is pasta smothered in butter and Campbell's tomato soup right out of the can.

I've found that the only thing that helps on "one of those days" is to give in to it and not beat myself up over it. I retreat under tons of blankets a cup of tea and chocolate chip cookies (my comfort foods). And just be. That helps better then trying to tell myself that I'm being a big baby (which took years for me to figure out I'm NOT I just need a day to BE). I'd say more frequent posting....but you do what is best for YOU, we'll be here when you do post :-)

One thing I have discovered while blogging, is that you have to do what feels good and fun for you otherwise it can easily become a chore. That being said, I like the more frequent posts. :)

Oh and I got my copy of Cloth, Paper, Scissors yesterday, too cool!!! Congratulations Cover Girl!

I think you should post when you feel like it. I love to read you weekly or semi-weekly or any old time. Just when you feel like it. And I'm with you Mac & Cheese is the best comfort food. I really like it with meatloaf too. How today is a better head day for you.
