315: hey, monkey!

Good morning, loves.

Still feeling a bit off, but I haven't dissolved into tears yet today, so that's a decent start, right? :o) I will tell you, this cloudy sky is not helping. Come on, nature! Jeez!

If you were looking very closely at my photographs in Studios Magazine, you may recognize the beginnings of this little fella:

Just a fun little illo I did from an ink doodle. Scanned it in and added some color and lettering. See the Tendril print in the background?

I call my man "Monkey." I sometimes call his son that, too. But only because he is one.

I love cute nicknames. My mom calls me "Peachy." She also calls me "MBA" which isn't as cute, but they are my initials. And she calls me "MissyBeth", which I love. Yes, middle name = Beth.

Where was I going with all this? Oh, yeah.

Studios Magazine: Just got my copies to sell at the shop! Locals, come on in! I'll be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-5.  If you are nice to me (I'm having a sensitive week, you know), I'll show you the studio in person so you can see how messy it is compared to when the pictures were taken.

.......................................................................................................

Last night, watched Twilight. Wow, that was good! Dang.

This weekend, going to watch Milk and going out to see I love You, Man. Oh, Paul Rudd, how I love you. Have you seen this clip of him dancing? Hilarious.

......................................................................................................

Talk to me about your nicknames, please?

What are you doing this weekend?

xo, m

Growing up I had the obvious, CareBear, and Carrie Beary. But the one that hurt me (then) the most was from my brother "Hairy Carrie". Fortunately, my husband didn't carry that tradition and now calls me 'Kibby'. And not to be excluded, my two and a half year old also calls me "Kibby".

Congrats on the magazine feature! A messy studio is a creative studio.

My grandpa called me Fredricka. He called the grandsons Fred. He was funny. Other than that, no real nicknames until I hit the Army. Then I was Vinny. Back then, my last name was Vincelette.

Now my last name is Funk. But I'm rather old for a nickname to come from that, except for my online nick.

Now we are united in our love of Paul Rudd.

I used Mikki for half of 2nd grade, so my friend Shelli could use her given Michelle. Other than that...no nicknames!

I have various nicknames at work: Purple Rain (my last name is Prince), Nancy Drew (since I'm always "sleuthing" out problems), and Picnic (I bought a picnic basket on my lunch break once and mistakingly brought it to the office). Alex calls me Pip, which is short for Pippy.

This weekend (I'm hoping) will mostly be spent relaxing and maybe looking at some apartments. I also have to finish the felt owl I'm working on.

I hope you have a great weekend!

If you mean nicknames from loved ones, I was mainly "Connie-Bird" - though my beloved Gramma was known to call me "Conrad" when she was in a playful mood (which was often!).

In high school, my BFF gave cute nicknames to everyone. She'd just add "Dums" to the end of the first few letters of their names. So Susie would become "Sue-dums" (sounds cuter than it reads) and Mary would become "Mar-dums."

Of course, my name is Connie ... so I became "Con-dums." And this is the nickname she yelled one busy Christmas shopping season at the food court of our local (but HUGELY popular) mall, trying to get my attention. I have to assume that since the entire food court went silent (most with gaping mouths hanging open in shock), it made an impact. :)

She and I still laugh about that to this day. :)

Wish I was in the area to come see the shop - I'm sure it will be packed!
The dancing clip was hysterical!
And now for nicknames - my Dad (who was 90 this week!) calls me Moochie! He is so sweet, he could call me anything and I would love it. I am so blessed.

Hmmm....nicknames? NOT Jessie since there was an annoying boy named that in first grade. Only one girlfriend gets away with that. Obviously "Jess", but I also got "Juice" in college. Jon used to call me "Angel" all the time. I love that. Of course Aurora gets it more now...
But mostly around here I'm "Mom".

I love that you call your sweetie Monkey! I called my son Monkey til he was about 11 and his friends started teasing him about it and he asked me to stop. But he is one, too, in the best possible way! --He's turning 18 this month.

My middle name is Catherine, and my much-older sister called me Cat, and occaisionally Kitten, during my whole early childhood. Sometimes still does, which is always a pleasant treat!

My husband, completely independant of her, calls me kitten occaisionally, too...maybe because I, um, PURR when I'm especially blissed-out about something... you think??

His name is Tony, just like mine (after twenty-one years we've heard all the jokes about THAT, believe me!) and we used to call each other Tony Baloney, in letters (Dear Tony-Baloney...) and he actually called me "Baloney" as a nickname for our first several years of marriage...since baloney (EEEWWW!!) happens to be his favorite childhood comfort food...I guess it was a compliment?--LOL.

Jenny-Penny, Jens the Pens, and Fertree were some of the nicknames I remember my parents calling me. Now they just call me Jen (or Jennifer if I'm in trouble) : )
My daughter's name is Elizabeth but she she's known as Ebby, which I love.
Here's hoping the sun comes out soon!

I love that monkey! Love the design too, the font, background, etc.

My nickname was Winky.

I had a lot of nicknames... actually I still do. My Grampy referred to my 2 sister and I as his "buddy, pal and friend". However, my sisters weren't so kind to me. To irratate me they sang me this little diddy "♪Karen Annie Wannie Pannie Fannie♫" NOT NICE! lol

When I was pregnant with my daughter I always referred to her as my "belly bean". Now everyone referrs to her as either Ava Bean or just Bean. Love that sweet little girl. My son, poor kid is stuck with "Boogs" short for "Boogitty Boo". Now that he is 6 he is less fond of that nickname haha

In college some friends of mine made me a poncho that says "THE SCHENK TANK," and the rest, as they say, is history

I've had many nicknames through the years. In elementary school I was "Jenny-Dee" because there were two Jennifers and my last name started with a d. My friends in high school called me "die-ringer", which is actually the spelling of my maiden name, but not the correct pronunciation (it is pronounced like the gun "derringer"). Graduate school friends named me "General Jenn" because I scheduled homework and study sessions for everyone. I don't really have any nicknames now other than the generic "honey" that my husband and I call each other. Aren't nicknames fun? I love it.

This weekend I am sewing some baby gifts for a friend's shower. I haven't started yet, so hopefully I'll get everything done by Sunday! You'll have to let us know how Milk is; it's on my list of movies to rent. Love the monkey.

What a cute monkey!! I'm feeling a bit off this week as well, and I think it's definitely due to the weather! (Ha!)

Nicknames! My husband and I are Robert & Rebecca, so we like to call ourselves R&R or Robs and Rebs. My grandma used to call me Miss Beck, and I loved that.

I never had a nickname - I think my name is too short. I read all the Twilight books so the movie was just ok for me. But my sister just borrowed it and really liked it and so now is reading all the books. I hope the weekend helps lift some of the sadness....those movies sound like a good idea :-)

Hey MissyBeth- you just make my day! I'm Jack Bean, or just Bean, Bobo, Piezel, Firecracker... and this weekend, I'm sleeping in! Have you read the Twilights? Love them all. Can't wait for the other movies.

Dude if you thought Twilight the movie was good, you should read the series. DOUBLE good. My first name is Georgia. My nicknames mostly consist of George and Peaches. For obvious reasons. Georgia and Peaches? They just go together.

Growing up my gram called me Molly-o... a little boring, but it was the only nickname I had, which is a little surprising, given all the great nicknames in my family (my aunts, Doodle, Dimpy and Snooker, and my cousin Squeegie, to name a few...)

This weekend I'll mostly be working... I just exhibited at the Boston Gift Show and have orders to fill, so I'll be printing, printing and printing.

I always ALWAYS wanted a nickname.... The closest I can get is my mom calling me Sunshine. And I gave a good push on trying to be called Stae, but it didn't take beyond about two people. Hmmm.... Love your monkey doodle!
