Look at these cuties:

Got them at a thrift store a couple of months ago. I don't know where I will put them, but they were too unique to pass up, with these fifties-ish faces:

---Thought I would try to get back into the swing of blogging with some of my usual thrifty goodness.

---I'm still feeling pretty off.

---I'm brunette these days, mostly out of laziness. Buzzed my hair the other night and didn't feel like  bleaching it. Stuart came home and said, "Did you just get out of prison?" It made me laugh.

---Been discovering some great new cover songs on blip.fm. You can check out my picks here.

---Looking forward to checking out that new show Glee.

---So glad we are heading into summer and not winter.

--- Most of the leaves have popped around here, which makes my heart leap. The canopy of leaves over the roads feels like love.

---Itching to make myself some summer dresses and tops.

What are you up to?

xo,

m

I have had "Don't Stop Believing" stuck in my head since last night when they did the Glee preview during Idol...so excited to see this show! I'm sure I'll start to reminisce about my days in HS choir & show choir...

Have you thought about being a redhead?

Love the faces, I wonder what they are thinking. I think being a red head would be so much fun (better that the dishwater mop I have now!) I'm with you about the season change. I love the fresh new green and the roses, peonies, and irises are already to pop. Have a great weekend. Cheers.

Glad to see you back and trying to blog. I have missed you! Love those thrifting pics. Please post a pic of your dark hair! I wanna see! I agree with the above poster...have you thought about being a red head? When people like us have really short hair we can get away with playing with color cause we cut if off all of the time!

Hi Melissa - while I was on the east coast, I didn't have an internet connection, so I hadn't seen your blog to know how down you must have been feeling the day I stopped into your shop. I'm the woman from Oregon who was waiting for you with my sister who lives on the Cape, hoping to catch you before I left for Logan. I've felt a connection to you since finding your blog. Not only because I love your art and your shop, but because I've also suffered a deep loss. I lost both my parents when I was twelve. It has been many, many years since then, and I know the pain of not knowing. My best friend has lost a brother and a son to suicide and the despair is so hard, but we go on. I'm glad you feel the love of those around you. It will lift you and carry you when times are tough. The spring and the summer will buoy you, and hopefully, when the fall and winter arrive, you will find joys that come with those quieter seasons too. Chin up. You're fabulous, you're vibrant, and there's so much for all of us to live for.

Melissa... just stopped in to catch up and read back a few blogs and decided that I had to write to let you know that you are not alone... I find myself wanting to dig a big hole and climb into it... this can come on at any given time, season or events in my life. I don't think "non-depressed" people understand the need to crawl into bed, hide under the covers, turn in on our selves and hope for the best ... but, then the sun will come back and I hear the birds sing and I see the colors of the world and I want to do something artistic and then I slowly come back to the world. I feel for you and hope for the best ... take your time and regroup, find your purpose and your art again... Sometimes it's easier to instill inspiration in others than to find it for ourselves.

Oh those are just so awesome. I wish I was a thrifty kind of person, but I think that take some patience gene that I didn't inherit (my mom has it, so obviously I COULD have but no such luck.) I'm burying myself in a mountain of sewing and planting this weekend. That has to be good, right?

I have come out of lurking to say, Hi, you wild and crazy chick! I am glad you are feeling better. Lovely ring your bud gave you. I even showed it to my Dave. He smiled. He knows how nuts gals can get over such a beautiful piece of jewelry. The shop is great. Have you been a redhead? You could match the fabric shows! Only kidding! XOXO from texas
Sending you good vibes and crazy fun days.

I'm am a bit technologicaly slow but I will try to find a way to send you photos. Thanks for the idea and inspiration!

Hi!

I love the music link: thanks so much for it! I had to chuckle at your comment on Hallelujah, that you could listen to it all day, wait, you DO!

So do I! Love that song. One time through is never enough for me.

Leonard Cohen wrote it, you know, though he wasn't the one who made it famous. I love his songs, when other people sing them!

He kind of intrigues me: obviously of Jewish parentage with the name Cohen, and writes songs with so many religious references in them to BOTH Jewish and Christian stuff, but without the songs actually ever being about religion-- ("Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water"---never did fully 'get' that verse in Suzanne).

Then, I read last year in a Buddhist mag that he's spent the last 25 years or so as a Buddhist. I think he might be a monk. That really gave me a smile. Seems so apt. Of seeking and being at peace with not knowing. Like so many of us.

Which of course reminded me of your beautiful poem about your brother. Been thinking about you since reading those previous posts, praying things go well for you, with whatever process will help you grow and live most fully and richly. It's a such a lushly lovely, though painful world. I think you'll find your way through it. Sounds like you are doing all the right things. It will be okay.

You take care. And have a guilt-free, love-yourself-deeply, bowl of Captain Crunch cereal, on me, the next time you need it! love.

I just "found" you in the Studio Magazine and read the whole article on your amazing shop and studio. WOW :) Now I can't wait to read your blog and see what you are up to. I love in the San Francisco Bay Area and teach Art to Elementary School children. My blog is fun with some of my own mixed media "stuff", things I find and love and of course the children's amazing art. Come visit when you have a chance. I am off to check out the rest of your blog now. Chiao =^..^=
