324: hey baby, those are some nice pillows you got

Do you remember a million years ago (or so) I mentioned that I sewed some Sugar Snap pillows?

Well, I decided to finally post them, dog hair and all.

You're right, I didn't just use Sugar Snap.  I threw in a little home dec stuff, some old school Amy Butler and Tanya Whelan dots.

I've found that a little dog fur (courtesy of Zeus) adds that homespun touch. That's an expert tip from me to you. You're welcome.

Aw, who's cute? Zeus is!

Perhaps you noticed the pair of thrifted afghans on the couch? Love the color combination on those.

Oh yeah, that reminds me. In the Studios feature, there was a flowery afghan on one of the shelves that I keep getting questions about:

No, I didn't make it. Thrifted, again. And no, it's not for sale--- sorry!  I don't know anything about how to make it. If you have any info or a pattern, please pipe up in the comments!

Here is a closeup, hope that helps!

I haven't been thrifting or yard sale-ing in a while. I miss it.

.....................................

What are you up to?  Seen any good movies lately?

(warning! Links lead to automatic previews!) A few weeks ago, I watched What Happens In Vegas, which you would expect to suck, but it was actually very funny!

Tonight I am going to see The Hangover, which I've heard is hilarious. I must admit, I do like the ridiculous raunchy movies. Can't help it.

I also really wanna see The Year One. Hey, I've had a rough winter year few years, and I need all the laughs I can get.

xo,

m

LOVELY pillows! I want to re-do my throw pillows for the living room - thanks for the inspiration!

I haven't seen it yet (is it even OUT?) but I LOVE John Krasinski (from The Office) and I want to see Away We Go.
Looks funny and girly :-)

What a cute doggie!! (I'm loving his ears!) The pillows are gorgeous too. I have no tips on the afghan but it's so pretty! And I haven't been to see a movie in like forever so I am no help with that either!

LOVE your pillows. You have such a gift for mixing colors. Sugar Snap really pops against that creamy yellow. (P.S. - I looked, but I couldn't see a single dog hair. Except on your actual dog. So you're good.) ;-)

I want to see Up too! My friend swears is a gut buster. Love the pillows. I too sewed some, but last weekend. My sofa is happier.

Beautiful pillows. I love how all of the patterns pile up so nicely as pillows.

I've just seen Vicky Christina Barcelona, and although it was caned by the critics, I LOVED it! Off to see Land of the Lost on Sunday with the family and can't wait to see The Hangover!

I am taking care of a sick husband and trying to keep my 5 month old from getting sick. This mother thing ain't so easy but I LOVE IT!
I wish I can say that I have seen a good movie. I just saw He's Just Not That Into You and I hated it. I think I am the only person, because everyone else I have spoken to loves it.
I am dying to see the Hangover, but I refuse to be that mom who drags her baby to see adult movies. So until it comes out on video I will just have to keep hearing about how funny it is.
Hey, go thrifting will ya! That flowery afghan is AWESOME! You always share your great thrift scores and thrifting really stinks in SoCal - it's super expensive and that takes the fun out of it.

Love those afghans! They both look crocheted. You could probably find the same/similar pattern for the pinwheel one in a vintage book, or even in one of those motif pattern books.

I haven't been to a movie in at least 8 years...

Aww, cute Zeus!!
Tonight I came upon my cat Pal curled up inside an African Market basket full of bills--she just fit. After I took her picture, I went through my photo files and had to laugh at how many photos I have of that weird gorgeous cat in weird distorted poses. Huge percentage.
She gets into the weirdest positions. In a donut shape with her face completely buried by her paws, etc. I used to go get my drawing pad and sketch her, and I always loved the drawings. But whenever I showed them to people they would say, WHAT is that, exactly? Because it never actually looked like a CAT.
So I started shooting photos instead. She doesn't look like a cat in the photos, either, except to me, but at least they're PROOF, I mean, this way no one can claim it's just that I CAN'T DRAW. Cuz I CAN!
Anyway. Gotta love those pets.

Dog hair is a constant accessory in our home, and we wouldn't have it any other way! Love those pillows. Itching to make some of my own now. Best to you!
