332: rust, clouds, freedom

I can't believe it's taken me this long to show you some awesome rust I found on Easter.

Stuart and I went for a drive and --as is usually the case-- we ended up going to a bunch of different beaches.

Oh, let the swooning begin.

You know what I love? I love that a bunch of you email me with rust pictures because seeing rust makes you think of me.

How about this frothy stuff, lichen? Moss? Anyone know the right name for it?

Love the perfection of that sky in the background.

Fluffy little fairy colonies.

The front of the sign:

mmmmmmm.

oh, and I guess the scenery is ok, too:

The Cape is so beautiful.

Love these branchy silhouettes:

And the blue sky with puffy clouds. One of my personal symbols of happiness.

..............................................

The gloom is lifting. An old heaviness -- a sense of being shackled that I have always felt-- is being freed up in me and I feel such relief. It's exciting and new, a little raw.

I am feeling able to take in the goodness that surrounds me. I feel such gratitude and the beginning of peace.

It's about frigging time!

A little wish for you:

that you may find even a tiny bit of movement in a part of you that has been stuck or frozen.

xo,

m

Thanks for the wish. And the visual reminder that our world is pretty friggin' cool...rust and all.

I think I want to just copy that last little line, print it, and hug the hell out of it. Or I could just come over to the shop and hug the writer. That'll do.

Oh thank you so so much. The last part is very much what I needed to read right now. And it's funny, I don't know you, but I do think of you and your blog when I see nice rust, now! Happy wishes and thoughts to you!

This may seem weird, but I saw the movie Julia & Julia today, and there are scenes with old buildings in France and old buildings in New York. It made me long to live in an old house--even though I complain because my house is "old", but only 30 years old. It's not got that oldness like a 100 year old building that has seen so much. The rust reminds me of that. There is beauty in things like the caked on dirt on old windows and in rusty street signs somehow.

Also, I have been feeling little movements in places that have been frozen for a while, and it is a good feeling. It's nice to hear you are feeling the gloom lifting!

Hello Melissa, great post; the yellow, red and brown against the blue of the sky,fan-tastic! Lichen, absolutely love lichen. Amazing what we can see when the fog starts to open up. xo H

I'll take that wish, and run with it.
Beautiful pictures, I'm a big moss fan. Rust is cool too.
